I was driving home from work and saw a dog running across the road in the middle of rush hour traffic. She made it, and headed into a neighborhood. I pulled over, got out and ran to find her. I caught up with her and tried to get her to come to me. She’d stop, look at me and take off running again, but if I turned to leave she’d turn and follow me… until I turned around again. I couldn’t walk back to my car and have her follow me since it was by the busy road. After 45 minutes of this, a kind woman who’d seen me run by her house earlier, came out with a leash and a piece of cheese and that’s all it took. I had her! She turned out to be one of the best dogs we ever had. She was our constant companion for 16 years and we still miss her.
